I have downloaded and burnt the latest version of the Solaris 10 DVD image (unfortunately it's probably polluted with Oracle everyhere) and perhaps tomorrow will have a go at seeing if I can successfully upgrade my SB1000 system running Solaris 9 to Solaris 10. I have a lot of third-party stuff that I have compiled and installed myself over the last few years and loads of libraries, etc. that are perhaps part of the standard Solaris distribution but weren't at the time. Most of that additional stuff is in /usr/local (symlinked to /var/local where it really lives) and I have shell aliases pre-defined for compiling things that look for libraries in a couple of non-standard locations such as /usr/local/lib, etc. so gcc can link in things that applications need. Hopefully the upgrade can proceed more or less smoothly without too many headaches.
