Until you discover something that needs python and then pkgsrc fails.  All of the python packages in pkgsrc are broken at least on sparc.  They segfault during compile.  Anything that depends on python will then fail to install.  I've tried a dozen times on my IPX to get python to compile so I could install scons which would allow me to compile a new version of gpsd.  Python 2.4 through 2.7 all dead and scons wants at least 2.6.
