Second network goes down during the backup

We recently setup a second NIC network for running tape backups. Server
goes down as soon as we start the backup. At first, we thought that it is a
hardware failure with NIC but then looking at the logs, we don't think that
it is the backup volume that is causing the server to crash.

Have anyone come across with this type of situation?
