Dear Sun Managers,
I have a Dell TL2000 tape library that is fiber attached. It has
2 LTO-5 HH drives. I am currently utilizing the tape drive but getting
less than 1/2 the advertised 140 MB/s speed. I believe that my issue
is with st.conf options, but Dell doesn't support the device on
Solaris 10 and I've not been able to find any optimal st.conf settings
for these drives via Google. Most internet resources point to using
the IBMTape drivers, but I was unsure if the OEM drives would be
supported by the drivers. Here is tapeinfo output and also st.conf
options currently in use.
Product Type: Tape Drive
Vendor ID: 'IBM '
Product ID: 'ULT3580-HH5 '
Revision: 'B171'
Attached Changer: No
SerialNumber: '1068011685'
MinBlock:1
MaxBlock:16777215
Ready: no
tape-config-list=
"IBM ULTRIUM-TD1", "IBM Ultrium", "Class-3580";
Class-3580 = 1,0x24,0,0x45863D,2,0x00,0x01,0;
I actually don't think any config options are being set (other
than default) for the LTO-5 drive. That statement in st.conf is for my
LTO-3 drive. If anyone has a good st.conf for the LTO5 HH drives, I'd
appreciate it. Otherwise any other suggestions or experiences using
the IBMTape drivers would be appreciated.
Yours,
Shon
