Oracle Server Support Contracts?

Our Oracle rep is telling us that Oracle will not sell a software 
contract (Solaris, SunCluster, ..) on Sun/Oracle X86 servers  unless you 
buy a hardware contract. They also say that they won't sell a software 
contract on other vendors compatible X86 servers at all.

Since Oracle has taken over its been hard to find the right contact at 
Oracle to be sure we are getting correct answers. I thought managers in 
this list might have experience on whether what we were told is correct. 
My apologies if this posting is inappropriate, its been a tough 2 years 
dealing with Oracle.
