How are these Solaris 11 AI filesystems being created?

Hi,
         Trying to make a dead simple Solaris 11.1 install using AI.
I don't want these filesystems to be created:

rpool/ROOT/solaris/var  79.1M   229G  77.9M  /var
rpool/VARSHARE          42.5K   229G  42.5K  /var/share


but can't find them in the AI manifests and profiles.  Anyone know
how/why they're showing up and how to prevent their creation and just
allow their contents to live in the parent directories?
