Sun 5240 connect to 2540 disk array

 I have a single fiber channel cable going from a Sun 5240 to a 2540 disk
array. I can create a volume on the disk array and map it to the Sun 5240 but
the format command shows "drive type unknown". I am able to select the device
and configure it with one of the options (SUN146G) and then the disk command
within format shows it correctly until I exit and run format again at which
point it shows "drive type unknown".

I did connect another system to this array and it recognizes the drive type
automatically.

We are running Solaris 10 08/11.

Any ideas?
