Hello,
I have this sun fire v440 bought from ebay.

4x 1,59 MHz ultra sparc IIIi CPU 8GB RAM

the problem is that i cannot access the OpenBoot OK prompt

  * the ALOM starts up inserting the power cable
  * if i power up the system pressing the button after 5 seconds the
system stops and powers down by itself telling this message on the
serial ALOM console:"SC Alert: Host Power-On Failed: System Power
    OK, Open Boot not responding"
  * I do not know the ALOM password so I Cannot even access the ALOM.
o the default ALOM password does not work
o removing the ALOM battery is not useful password is not reset
  * the system does not have Solaris installed and I Cannot install
Solaris since I cannot reach the OK prompt
  * I removed ALOM but on the serial ttyb DB9 nothing is displayed upon
startup without ALOM inserted. The system as usual powers down after
    5 seconds
  * I put hte ALOM back
  * I reseated all the 4 CPUs, nothing changes
  * I installed only one CPU, nothing changes
  * I installed 2 CPUs, nothing changes
  * I installed again all the 4 CPUs modules and nothing changes

I read about a ALOM firmware update regarding openboot failing

https://blogs.oracle.com/unixgeek/entry/host_power_on_failed_system

but the problem is that I have no solaris on this machine so I have no
way to update firmware.
I even wonder if any solaris would even boot since OpenBoot fails to load

I ask what else i could do to make this machine have a working OBP

thank you very much

Rick
