SUN Ultra10 hostID (re)programming

Hi!

I had to replace a SUN ultra10's dallas chip, and now I can't set the hostID :(

I can use the mkp command to set the corresponding bytes (one by one following
the "value offset mkp" command), after that .idprom command shows the correct
values, booting with a reset-all works perfectly ( I set the cheksum to a
correct value for the boot, but before the mkpl I always set a wrong cheksum
as in the faq).

But if I try to save the values via the mkpl ^D ^R, it always returns stack
underflow, and the hostID, and mac replaced by some sort of random data.

Where have I gone wrong?

There is a software reading the hostID and MAC of the machine (licensing), so
the random values are not providing usuable environment in this case...
