Setting up ldapcd?

I just did a fresh install of 5.1b on a 433au.  I'm trying to point 
it at our LDAP server by editing /etc/ldapcd.  I then restart 
/sbin/init.d/ldapcd.  Unfortunately I can not find any documentation 
other than setting up the ldapcd.conf file.

I've checked the logs to see, if anything is happening when ldapcd 
restarts, but nothing is showing up.  Is this a plain vanilla install 
off of the 5.1b CD (no extra CD, etc).

Any suggestions.
