NFS error

hi

I have mounted my magnetic optical disk as /mnt in
4.0F OS. this mnt is exported and NFS mounted in one
more server (5.1).  after this I am regularly copying
big files to this optical drive.  Once in a while I am
getting the error like the server is not reponding and
again after some time it will give server is 
responding.  This problem may not come some times,
that time i am able to copy the files (may be for one
month it wont give any error), if it started coming it
will give continuoysly.  My network speed is 100 Full.
what are the reason for this type of errors
