/etc/hosts.allow file

   Hi,
   Iam very sorry for my incomplete questionaire in different files.
   The following is my question. Sorry for my previous mails.
   There was a number of intruder attack on one of our server yesterday.
   I see the following line with evmget -A commnd many times:
   
   sshd[84841]: error: Couldn't authenticate root from
ds80-237-182-48.dedicated.hosteurope.de

   So I want to restrict the access to this machine only from our
network.
   I added the following line in /etc/hosts.allow file

   sshd:  xxx.xxx.

   Restarted sshd daemon. I see that I can still login to this macine
from other network.
   Why I cannot restrict the access via IP?
   I have compiled the ssh SW without tcpwrappers.I have the following
entry in my 
   sshd_config file:

   PermitRootLogin no

   Any suugestion is appreciated.
