TL891 Tape library

Gentle Unix folks:

I'm trying to attach a TL891 to a vanilla installation of Digital Unix 4.0D.
I did a MAKEDEV tz89 that created the rmt0 devices, but it still doesn't see
the device files.  The drive shows up as a "Device: TL800      Bus: 2,
Target: 0, Lun: 0, Type: Medium Changer" when I do $ scu sho edt.

The production server that I'm trying to duplicate, has, I believe, a SCSI
CAM update V3.1C--is this what I need or am I missing some procedure?
