SUMMARY: TruCluster ASE - Changing clusteralias host and IP address

Hi,

Thanks to a Christian Wessely, John Lanier, and Martin Rønde Andersen for 
their valuable advice.

There are basically two suggestions to approach this problem. First, was to 
use a utility /usr/sbin/asedit to directly modify your asecdb while ASE is 
stopped. Second, was to disconnect the primary network interfaces before 
bringing up ASE, and then to modify the asecdb via the asemgr utility.

The only problem I ran into asedit was the lack of any documentation for 
this tool. As far as I could tell, there doesn't appear to be a man page 
packaged with the original ASE install except for an entry in the TCR admin 
guide

instructing the use of asedit to disable cluster services from starting when 
ASE loads. Other than that, I couldn't find any other instructions on how 
this could be used to directly modify the asecdb.

I instead used the second suggestion of disabling the primary network 
interfaces before applying changes to ASE database. I ran into a few issues 
starting ASE but this is likely caused by configuration mistakes than ASE 
itself. I'm fairly confident that this procedure should solve all my 
troubles once I reconfigure ASE correctly. ;-)
