Trying to recover data from a vdump when the last Alpha has retired

Hi all,
    I have had a request to try to read some old data from a backup made
with vdump on a Digital Unix 4.0f machine some time ago.  Just a few months
ago, my last alpha died of a power supply failure.  I don't currently have
one available.  Does anyone know of a way to read a data file (from disk,
the tape can be dd'ed to a disk file) that vdump wrote?
