On a related item to my previous post " Syslog not processing Authenticatio= n messages on ES40", I'm also having similar issues on my GS160 Tru64 serve= r. In this case, the logs in /var/adm/syslog.dated/current are being updated, = but authentication messages aren't being sent to /dev/console. This was wor= king fine before I rebooted the server. After the reboot, authentication me= ssages were no longer sent to /dev/console. Typically each day at midnight = I should see three messages in my console logs. -EVM logger: Closed eventlog...... -EVM logger: Started eventlog..... -EVM: Mark Event. Since the reboot, these don't appear. Looked at /var/evm/adm/logfiles/evmlogger.log and found two errors. 1) evmlogger: Failed to open eventlog "/dev/console": Bad file number 2) evmlogger: Failed to write to eventlog "console_log" Any ideas of why this is failing, and any possible solutions. I thought I had this solved a while back, but it's still an issue. Ref: "SUMARY: Event Messages aren't being directed to the console port" ---------------------------------------------------------------------------= -- Thank you, and please feel free to contact me by phone or email.
