Fatal pipe error related to ssh

I'm currently having an issue on one of my Tru64 version 5.1b servers, wher=
e I removed all users except for 'root' from the /etc/group file, and now w=
hen any users try to ssh to root or other users, they get the following mes=
sage:

"ssh: FATAL: pipe: Permission denied"

If I add myself back into the system group, then the message goes away.
