Dear Val,

Its not that Dasylirion longissimum has been renamed, the name has been misapplied to the wrong species.

The Dasylirion with spineless square leaves is correctly named Dasylirion quadrangulatum S.Watson.

Dasylirion longissimum Lemaire also has square leaves but they have prickles toward the base.
