Mary,

Thanks for your reply. We in the UK have success with Dasylirion in 
the ground especially in the South of England where I am. They seem 
to have better wet tolerance than Agaves and appear quite hardy. I 
grow D.acrotriche, D.wheeleri and D.glaucophyllum in the ground and 
also have D.quadrangulatum and D.cedrosanum in pots. The potted 
plants are still rather small but will eventually be planted out. 
Minimum temperatures these have experienced are in the region of -5°C 
but I know of others growing Dasylirions exposed to colder 
temperatures. That coupled with our notoriously wet winters make 
these worthwhile plants for us indeed.
