Dear Steve, Sorry so long to reply - haven't been able to check my email much the last few days. The links below aren't working at this time, but I have seen the photos in question. The photo at cacti.com http://www.cacti.com/html/agaves.html clearly shows A. attenuata characteristics, while most of the photos I have seen of A. 'Edward Hummel' seem to have straighter more rigid leaves. http://www.rth.org/occss/1998show/agave%20'edward%20hummel'_Thumb.jpg This plant also appears to have a hard spine tip at the end of the leaf as well as dark spines along the leaf margin, neither of which occur in A. attenuata. These two photos are what I based my comment on if I remember correctly. The other pics at Maarten's site are less conclusive... Sincerely, Peyton --- Steve <[email protected]> wrote: > Dear Peyton, > > Do you say the same after comparing more pictures of the two from > Maarten's photo files? > > http://public.fotki.com/maarten/2_cultivars/cultivars/edward_hummel-0.html > > http://public.fotki.com/maarten/2_cultivars/cultivars/edward_hummel-1.html > > http://public.fotki.com/maarten/a/attenuata_red_margin/ > > Could you at least allow that both appear to have Agave attenuata in > their parentage and both have dark leaf margins?
