Dear Carlos, In Gentry (1982) "Agaves of Continental North America", its spelled Agave lechuguilla Torrey. However, it is spelled Agave lecheguilla Torrey in both the TROPICOS and IPNI databases, as the name was originally published by Torrey (1859). Gentry (1982) changed Torrey's original spelling of the species epithet to agree with the spelling of common name of the plant. He stated that "The name was misspelled, but under Article 73 of the International Rules of Nomenclature, such orthographic errors may be corrected." A quick search of the Internet shows that both names "Agave lecheguilla " and "Agave lechuguilla" are widely used. Regardless of the choice of species epithet, the common name of the species is "Lechuguilla".
