I lean towards the distinct species due to their being able to be differentiated from each other…the hybrids like orchids…tend to blend into one another after awhile.

Some of them I had described in my catalogue as being "of very modest 
charms" BUT if a person wants everything in a genus, one must make 
room for these things.
