The hand-drawn catalogues sound beautiful! I remember seeing some in the 80's - I don't remember IN WHAT, but occasionally some "mixed" catalogues would include a few oddball plants (NOT A PLANT CATALOGUE) - such as the "Starfish Plant" (Stapelia) Anyone remember those? The photo was paintings. I'm sure that knowing you're comingto get them, they will make sure they look nice for you. mail order used to be sight-unseen, based on a generic picture ofa plant, not necessarily the one you are getting, and sometimes even adrawing. I used to do drawings back when I was putting out a hand-donecatalogue for economy. Or black and white polaroids printed on a Xeroxmachine. now we can ask for an email of the exact plant we are going toget. and when picking things up, there is no sale unless the plant beingpicked up is something you would voluntarily buy if you saw itsomeplace. hermine
