I have a big santa-rita Tubac, which is even more purple than that, in sun. Lovely. The glocchids are orange, which is a great contrast against the lavender.

It is a very stunning and beautiful species of Opuntia.  
However, from my experience, it is very prone to rot. Prudent to mound it.
