 what a nice story. Indeed, when people have a common subject to talk about and mutual interest  they can communicate  even with no command of a language. 
 

 It is great that you remember some words an Russian and have interest in russian songs and movies. I'm glad to hear it.
 

 The part about Siberian Huskies was very funny ) It's interesting that this breed of gods is very rare here in our area. And expensive ) We have a dog but it's Labrador-Retriever.
