The botanic gardens are mostly using bar coding for the genetics no so all
you need do is enter the Genetic code sequencing of a plant into the data
base and it SHOULD come back with the genus sp or whatever. There is a lot
of work to be done so it is not available to us yet, may take 3-5+ years
yet at they are doing something to stop the labelling of Sansevieria sp.,
etc.
