A very interesting idea. Many university campuses are
similar to carfree areas already. I think a private
university would be a much better try than a public
university as public universities are government
institutions and are generally less likely to
challenge the rules of their bosses. As well, since
they are dependent on them for funding any things that
they do that go against the "law" regarding street
widths or whatever might jeopardize their funding.

Private universities usually have the economic
leverage and attitude to challenge something that they
want to challenge. 


A university town seems a good place to start as minds
are usually more liberal and i feel that this is seen
as a liberal idea, although i feel that it is a
commonsense idea that appeals to all when it is really
thought about.

anyways, just some thoughts
