The GRID project, which I joined nearly four years ago, would boost the capacity of the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles, while reducing truck traffic and pollution on the streets and freeways fanning out from the harbor area. That is good news for everyone living around the eastern third of LA county--from Long Beach through to the San Gabriel Valley, and beyond. More jobs, less traffic, diminished impetus to expand the 710 or even build more looming freeways…. If you're a California resident, and you haven’t already sent a comment, add your voice to our campaign urging CalTrans to include GRID in its California Freight Mobility Plan--it's easy! Our online form includes a pre-formatted letter which you can send as is, edit to your taste, or replace entirely with your own composition. http://thetransitcoalition.us/GRID/GRIDCFMP.html Comments close in just two days, on July 31st. The GRID project would be a big step towards de-emphasizing freeways and damming the flood of freight trucks that oppresses dozens of neighborhoods, rich and poor, in eastern Los Angeles County. Let CalTrans know that there’s a better way. Thanks! Rick -- Richard Risemberg http://www.SustainableCityNews.com http://gridlogisticsinc.com
