The New Urbanism Film Festival is playing in Los Angeles from October 8th to 11th, and along with screenings, talks, walks, bike rides, and other Festival standards, this year's edition features the Urbanism Filmmaking Challenge. On October 4th, urbanists with on-the-ground projects to celebrate mixed with filmmakers looking for subject matter, paired off in a "speed-dating" atmosphere, and immediately went to work making short films that will be shown on Sunday, October 11th. The films will be judged by a panel comprising Craig Detweiler (director of the Center for Entertainment, Media, and Culture at Pepperdine University), Carolyn Cicero (gerontologist, urban planner, and social worker), and Lisa Hasko (Filmmaker Services Manager at the International Documentary Association and Artist Relations Manager for Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival). Winning filmmakers will receive prizes. See the full Festival schedule and buy tickets or passes for the Challenge and all other Festival events through the New Urbanism Film Festival website at: http://newurbanismfilmfestival.com/nuff2015/2015schedule/ Rick -- Richard Risemberg http://www.bicyclefixation.com http://www.SustainableCityNews.com http://gridlogisticsinc.com http://www.rickrise.com
