Hi all. We've got lots of fun activities planned for this year's World Carf=
ree Day in Dhaka.18 Sept: create a parklet20 Sept: group walk followed by p=
ress conference on carfree cities22 Sept: outdoor activity (open street), f=
or the first time with government involvement; planning lots of activities =
including drama, music, flash mob, games with people with disabilities, tra=
ditional games, slow cycling race (an idea borrowed from Nepal), etc.24 Sep=
t: group bicycle ride
I'm also starting to do carfree cities seminars at universities. We had a g=
ood one today...and I hope to do many more. We are using the talks to recru=
it students to We Squared (Wellbeing and Equality for Everyone) Clubs...you=
can learn more at We-Squared Club | Challenge. Resist. Regain=C2=A0The car=
free cities part still says "moving in cities" but we plan to change that..=
. We're also on Facebook. If anyone is interested in joining us, or sees th=
e potential for bringing our activities to your city, please let me know! T=
his is a new initiative but we're gaining steam, and have an internship pro=
gram that will train youth leaders to start clubs and carry out these campa=
igns.
Would also love to hear what other listserv members are up to...and if anyo=
ne has ideas on who we should recruit to this listserv, please share!
