Paris plans to ban 50% of cars - can we help?

Hi all,
we've heard that the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, has been hoping to
reshape Paris streets for a while now.
The latest news is a presentation of a plan to halve the number of vehicles
and pedestrianize large parts of the center:

That is surely great news. Also we know of other cities with big ambitions,
including both Madrid (increased pedestrianization) and Barcelona
(super-blocks).
One thing I'm sure of, these plans will receive strong levels of
resistance, and probably people will try to delay or water them down.
Not long ago, we discussed on this list trying to revive discussion or
actual concrete items. I think it would be interesting if those people left
in the carfree community, who are still interested in doing something,
could somehow band together and offer support for current developments like
this. Mentioned here is only the tip of the iceberg.
Hopefully a few people will be interested in discussing this more.
