W A N T E D: Volunteers & ideas for the World Carfree Day 2008

Dear all,

The annual carfree carnival, the celebration of cities
and public life free from the noise, stress and pollution of cars is
approaching! Therefore I'm asking for your help in the plannings and
the activities of the upcoming World Carfree Day <http://www.worldcarfree.net/wcfd/>.




Firstly, I would like to hear your opinions and ideas about WCN's
role in the WCD coordination, its own activities and supporting acts
for WCN's members. On our web site we say that the WCN provides
promotion and resources on carfree days (the Sept. 22 events) and
encourages local organizers to hold carfree days
on additional or alternative dates. Do you think we are doing a good
job here? Could and/or should we do more? 

This
year's AGM didn't give us any direct guidelines about the priority of
the WCD as a network project, but during the previous years it has been
listed as one of our core activities. However I believe there is lot's
more we could do and also improve the services
we're providing already, but ideally the initiatives should come from
you - from our members, groups and individuals. So please, let us know
what can we do to make your carfree days more successful! 





Secondly, we could use a hand with the actual activities planned
for the September's festivities. Obviously, the more people we get
involved the more we can do and bigger be since the ICC alone can only
take what we can handle being already understaffed, but there are
already various tasks available from online outreach and networking
(few minutes per week) to media outreach, graphic design and wikipage
-founding etc. (few hours per task). Let me know how you want to join
in on the plannings and let's get the party started!
