Consultation help from the WCN

Dear all,

I have received a request from a friend of mine in Lund, Sweden to help stop
plans of increasing car presence in the city. If you read Carbusters 35, you
will have seen that Lund is a city-marvel regarding transportation; however
the new political leadership wants to initiate a different development path
that will essentially set to an end the carfree-carlite path of Lund.

This friend of mine represents a body of active students who wish to take
part on the consultation procedure initiated by the Lund Municipality. Their
goal is to provide concrete information regarding the pros and cons of each
development plan (car-expansive vs. carfree/carlite) and influence the
policy makers to reject the plans of parking and road expansion. He asked
for the World Carfree Network's help in this endeavour, hence my email.

Is anyone interested in helping me out with this? I have received some basic
information from my friend, which I'm eager to share with knowledgeable and
interested people, so as to come up with an integrated approach to help the
students in their lobbying. If someone's interested, please reply to me and
I'll send all the information. Then, if more than one people answer, I can
set up a basic agenda for us to move forward with this,

Moreover, I was thinking that it would be perhaps a nice idea to generally
set up a consultation group, a board of experts so to speak, that could act
as a free consulting agency for active citizens around the world that cannot
afford professionals. All together, we have the knowledge, the expertise and
the passion to really help out such projects around the world. This could
become a valuable service the WCN can provide not only to its members, but
to the people at large - therefore, helping expanding its outreach and
scope.
