Dear all,
Firstly, I would like to apologise for the lack of conference updates over the past few months.
Unfortunately World Carfree Network and our co-host have been unable to agree on a number of issues relating to hosting the conference in Brussels. Today we came to a mutual decision that there will not be a Towards Carfree Cities Conference in Brussels this year.
The Steering Committee is now developing feasible 'Plan B' options for an alternative TCC event and AGM in 2009. These will be discussed in detail at a special SC meeting on Wednesday, after which we intend to present a list of proposals to the carfree_network list by the beginning of next week. Then it's over to YOU for your say!
In fact, we'd like to hear from you now: what kind of event is best for you and the members of your organisation? Any other thoughts? We will do our best to incorporate your ideas into our proposals.
Many thanks for your patience, and I am sure we can use this opportunity to channel our collective energy into another successful carfree event in 2009.
