Dear Sirs,

We are pleased to inform you that in the project " Principi attivi: Giovani idee per una Puglia Migliore " the Association “Tecnomobility” is doing a feasibility study about bicycle connections between the main Apulian airports (Bari and Brindisi) in Italy, and neighboring city centers. The project is called "Ali in Bici” and is conducted in partnership with “Aeroporti di Puglia Spa” (the regional Airports Company) and the Transport Department of the Apulia Region.

The proposed connections are grafted on cycling routes identified by the Interregional Project “CYRONMED - Cycle route network of Mediterranean” recently completed by the Apulia Region, in partnership with the Regions of Calabria, Basilicata, Campania, the Greek Municipalities of Athens and Karditsa, the Ministry of Urban Development of Malta and the Tourism Authority of Cyprus.

The airport cycling connections provide an excellent tool for sustainable multi-mode transport and could be an important infrastructure for the development of cycling tourism in Puglia and, therefore, for the benefits chained to this fast growing in Italy and Europe tourist sector.

In order to estimate the cycle-tourism demand and to characterize statistically the cycling in Puglia, the Association Tecnomobility has prepared a questionnaire “ad hoc”. It is possible to compile it on the website www.tecnomobility.com, particularly on the link http://www.tecnomobility.com/questeng.html.

We are also pleased to inform you that, in the download area of the site, you can find the state of the art of airport cycling connections in Italy (also if just in italian language. Sorry).
