Taxation of bicycles: does anyone besides Hawaii and UC Davis attempt to do it?

--001a11471a604b89e0051219d82b Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 I'm working on getting the Hawaii Bicycle tax/registration fee repealed. Is anyone aware of any state, country, or city that taxes bicycles? The tax appears to have gotten started here when someone decided to tax mopeds, and bikes got lumped in with them. The registry system here is also intended to help people get bikes back if stolen. But it is an ancient paper filling system, slow and ineffective. Also, the homeless are overly victimized here by the police. . . They often go around and seize unregistered bicycles from homeless people. Google searches have led me to articles about Chicago and Washington state or Oregon considering a tax, but none that has been implemented. The HI tax is also regressive. Everyone is supposed to pay $15. An attempt was made to raise the tax to $25 this year. Thank you for your help. I'd love to be able to say that Hawaii is the only entity in the world other than UC Davis that imposes a mandatory bicycle tax.
