Problems for Ecotopia

Dear All:

There are some problems which have been making the
organization of Ecotopia very tiresome, and now they
are reaching a critical point.

Some of it is personal between me and Tamara Malkova,
another part is cultural or even historical, and a
part is a matter of ways of working and treating
people. It is important ot make a working analysis,
which does not avoid the personal questions but has
enough perspective .

Compared with EYFA office and other groups, Green
Dossier appears as a centralized organization with an
institutional approach.

And to organize Ecotopia by means of two to three days
visits to talk with local authorities does not seem to
fit with the whole idea. It is a totally top to bottom
approach.

Also, a way in which there is a strict division of
tasks or "jobs" and little commmunication, or all the
communication goes through one person.

The rest of the people are left depending on her/him.
In my case this dependence was speciallly severe
becasue of language.

This transform all relationships into a power game.

And a strong resistance to share ideas and try to
complement visions. In a way that can be even
humiliating, as other people feel and are told not to
be necessary.

This is quite a barrier and quite a challenge
(specially for the Welfare team). This lack of
communication generates misunderstandings and this
produces lack of trust. 

This is a real bottleneck. I prefer all of you to be
aware of it before you come here.

In my case, I will stay here. Working with people whom
I do not trust and who do not trust me is much worse.
I hope I can get enough support to start preparing a
good Ectopia for everybody, in which also difficult
issies can be discussed in a constructive way, and
which can be a starting point for many other
projects...
