invitation to Ecotopia 2004!!!

EYFA (European Youth for Action)  and a Coalition of
five=20
Dutch  Organisations (A SEED, IVN-jong, JMA, LHUMP and

VIA)  want to invite  you to =20
                                           Ecotopia
2004 Netherlands=20

Ecotopia is an international gathering on
environmental and=20
social justice issues  for young people all over
Europe. It occurs=20
every summer since 14 years ago,  changing from one
country to=20
another in Western/Central and Eastern Europe.  This
year the=20
14th edition will take place in The Netherlands, at
the nature =20
reserve Gandelwaard, near the historic Castle
Loevestein.=20

Ecotopia is not just a "holliday" camp. It is a place
for learning=20
and taking  action, working together and having lots
of fun.=20
Ecotopia is self-organised and  run out horizontally.
During the=20
camp all decissions are taken by the participants  at
the daily=20
morning circles, and everybody is responsible for
creating the =20
programme, solving problems and running out the daily
tasks.=20

Ecotopia is also a functional model of
self-sustainable community=20
that puts into  practice the principles of an
environmentally=20
friendly life-style: waste recycling,  vegetarian
kitchen, consensus=20
decission-making, and the use of alternative  energy.=20
Furthermore, Ecotopia is the place to exchange
experiences,=20
spread  information and enrich one's knowledge about
the=20
environment and other social  and political issues
through=20
workshops, debates and art. =20

Around 200 - 600 people use to attend Ecotopia each
year,=20
sharing skillls and  knowledge about a wide range of
themes=20
related to environmental problems:  climate change,
transport=20
and mobility, GMOs, organic food, sustainable=20
energies,=20
strategies for actions, alternative media, global
politics and=20
economics,  migration, racism and xenophobia,
influence on and=20
of people, cultural issues...

This year's focus is on "Water and Bread". We will be
looking=20
at different  perspectives on our basic needs, from
issues of=20
agriculture and water  management to fair trade,
politics and the=20
enlarged EU. =20

The programme at Ecotopia is totally dependent on YOU.

you have any skill  that you would like to share with
others you=20
can organise a workshop or  presenation on any topic
you like.=20

AND Don't forget that one  of the best ways to reach
Ecotopia=20
is the BIKE TOUR. Last summer the Bike Tour  went
through=20
Poland and Ukraine to reach the Ecotopia festival in
the =20
Transcarpathian region. This year we will start in
Vienna, and=20
cycle through  Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany
and the=20
Netherlands to Gorinchem. =0F


 On the way we will share daily tasks and take part in
actions of=20
local  environmental and cycling groups. More info at:
