Journalists in Ecotopia

Dear All,

What Green Dossier said about the journalists in Ecotopia is that they
will come just a few days, preferably in the middle of the gathering, when
we have most of the workshops and activities, and the most of the people
have already arrived.

There is already a Media Team. This team is the main responsible for
dealing with the Media, talking with the journalists, writing Press
Releases, etc.

I think is very clear that the journalists can not take photos or film
everywhere. I am aware that there are people reluctant to be filmed or to
appear in pictures. We can decide in Ecotopia in which places the
journalists will be able to film or take pictures. It will also be up to
the people in every workshop to let them come in or not, and we will
decide in Ecotopia if we let them to be and take pictures in some of the
morning circles or not.

Anyway, I have to say that I am also tired of 'hating the Journalists and
Kicking them Out' all the time. It used to be my attitude years ago, when
I was far more 'dogmatic' than I am right now. We all know to whom
mainstream media belong to, but I think we can try to control the image
it's going to be spread about our gathering, and spreading this
information out of our 'ghetto' is very useful and necessary. The
journalists are not the evil, are just workers with common mainstream
ideology and values, like most of the people 'out there'.

It will be everybody's responsibility to take care that they do not film
or take pictures where they are not allowed, but also to try not to
humiliate or mistreat them (I've also seen that many times).

We'll define better the Rules for Journalists with all the participants in
Ecotopia itself.
