Subject: They oppress, we BDS!

As Palestinian youth, living under Israel’s brutal system of military
occupation and apartheid, we sometimes lose hope of ever seeing the light
of freedom, justice and equality in our lifetimes. Yet, we continue to
resist their oppression, not because we like to resist, but because we
cherish our freedom.

Our resistance is always inspired by our own heritage of struggle as well
as by global movements fighting for racial, economic, social, gender,
climate and Indigenous justice. The Palestinian-led global BDS movement for
Palestinian rights is a particularly strong source of inspiration and hope
that keeps us going despite Israel’s escalating criminality.

keep this hope alive!*

We are not dreaming of the impossible. We hold on to our hope that one day
we can and shall prevail over their oppression, realize our potentials and
determine our own destiny.

By insisting on the comprehensive rights, as stipulated in international
law, of the entire Palestinian people, the nonviolent BDS movement brings
us together, defying colonial fragmentation and divisions. By connecting
our liberation struggle with global struggles for a better world, BDS
reminds people of conscience that justice is indivisible and complicity in
injustice is unforgivable.

Silence is complicity. When governments, corporations and institutions are
so deeply implicated in supporting, covering up and justifying Israel’s war
crimes and crimes against humanity perpetrated against the Palestinian
people, it is a moral duty to cut those links of complicity. We are not
asking for charity, we are demanding accountability and basic human decency.

Neutrality in situations of oppression is siding with the oppressor.*

Israel’s constant and systematic attacks against our lives and our dignity
take many forms. Unemployment rates amongst our peers in the besieged Gaza
Strip reached an astounding 46.7% in the second quarter of 2019.
Palestinian youth in occupied Jerusalem face daily aggression,
dehumanization and military violence, not to mention relentless theft of
land and dispossession.

Israel’s regime of apartheid and settler-colonialism deprives us of our
fundamental rights to freedom of movement, to education, to work, to obtain
health care. It is ethnically cleansing us, gradually, from our homeland by
brute force and by colonizing our minds with hopelessness and defeat. But
we are fighting despair with hope and effective resistance. They oppress,
we BDS! They attack, we fight back.

*Help us decolonize our minds. Donate
