Krauthammer the Guileful

One of the first times I remember talking to Bijan about reparations
-- when I was in Durham last year -- I said, sort of half jokingly,
that you could spin the whole idea to conservatives thusly: "Don't
think of it as a lot of money out of pocket; think of it as a cheap
way to be able to say to African Americans from now on "STFU about
affirmative action".

I was only half-serious, and I meant it only as the most crass kind of
political maneuvering. *And* when I meant a *lot* more than
Krauthammer per person.

So is that how you turn a leftist into a Krauthammer? Be only half
serious, full-on crass and real politik, and egregiously miserly?
