Re:new folks

Finally introducing myself after lurking on the list for almost 8 months.

First found your site in January when I was searching for material on 
racism and whiteness. Liked Kendall's article, My White Problem and Yours, 
and much else I found on the site as well.

Share an interest with monkeyfisters in web tech, design and CG, analysis 
of media coverage of social issues and political activism, as well as 
racism and white privilege.

Monkeyfist is one of the first sites related to political activism I 
visited on the web. I've been making a little project of exploring the 
Internet resources related to social and political activism, since then. 
The information and links on this list and your site have been a help to 
this "newbie". Thanks.

Have been left leaning in my thinking on politics, social issues for some 
time, have been actively involved in some community social programs in the 
past, (tutoring children from a Chicago housing project, soup kitchen, 
etc.) but nothing specifically political - yet.

Work full time, while going to night school, most recently in Internet 
marketing for a Financial firm that was god awful to work for but they did 
reimburse my tuition. Hope to finish up this Fall at Northwestern 
University in economics and communication studies.

Is it OK if I put in a plug for a progressive Chicago publication I 
like?  The September 3rd issue of In These Times has two good articles on
