That's not what they said, and that's not what the law says, but who
cares about that, right?

Mindless devotion to rules has been -- and still is being -- used to
disenfranchise women and African Americans and others. Or don't you
know that?  Maybe you don't care about it?

Ever heard of poll tests? Poll taxes?

If you care at all about your fellow citizens getting the chance to
participate, like you want for yourself, in making decisions, why this
insistence that anyone who deviates must be disenfranchised?
