Dear friends, I am putting together a web page consisting of categorized links to news, analysis, and information related to the terrorist attacks on NYC and DC this past Tuesday. The link is: http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~zara/terrorismlinks.html The US will almost certainly be engaging in some military action, and perhaps going to war, in response to the attacks. National and local leaders seem to have been markedly reserved in their comments, but the rhetoric will likely heat up and the discourse narrow down, as the shock wears off and the rage intensifies. Historically, dissenting voices to the "patriotic" drumbeat are squelched, and civil liberties constrained. The mainstream media have little breadth or depth. Therefore, without any judgment as to the correct course of action, it is crucial to have access to as much information as possible. Hopefully, the material on this page may contribute to the in depth understanding that is essential to our participation in the decision of what actions to take in the short and long terms. To that end, I would appreciate any submissions of linked articles, etc., or suggestions. The material on the page now is scanty, and I would like to beef it up! Best wishes, Mike -- Michael Zara brachiator-/[email protected]
