Thanks for the comments and kind words. The piece was mostly a result of 
my attempt to apply basic concepts of privilege (of the white and male 
varieties) to sexual orientation, so it's slightly surprising to hear 
that it sounds novel to some folks.

If "being themselves" means granting privileges to other other 
heterosexuals and keeping those same privileges from non-heterosexuals, 
then of course it's wrong... unless you believe that there is something 
inherent in heterosexuality that merits those privileges.

What exactly is this danger? And how do you know that "homosexuals make 
up a very small part of the population"?

You seem to be confusing an extremely powerful minority with an oppressed 
one. Do you not think there is a difference between the two? Your brand 
of socialism may be primarily concerned with the majority, but does this 
concern mean that minorities must necessarily oppressed for the minor 
comforts of the majority?

Most fundamentally: why does giving up heterosexual privilege mean 
sacrificing your identity?
