It's interesting and instructive to compare this to the famous Jesse
Jackson "Hymietown" incident. The cases are slightly different...clearly
Jackson knew it was a slur (though he may not have thought of it as a
particularly bad one). I don't have concrete evidence to hand that he
apologized, but I believe he did. It's going to dog him for the rest of
his life. Last year, I had an exchange with a moron who accused me of
being an antisemite because I *mentioned* Jesse Jackson.

An instructive countercase is Robert Bryd, 4th in line to the presidency,
etc. etc. used the N-word recently ("condemning" it in some weird way) and
holds the second place record (I beleive) for filibustering a civil rights
bill. Forgive and forget!

But at least he apologized for his most recent blunder.

Bush doesn't even have to apology.

The *nonsense* part is that you did it alone! :) Whitey ignores the
vaguely brown person *again* :)

People need to read up on the difference between speaker's meaning and
sentence meaning. Plus, the bad bit is the failure to apologize.

Where are all the leftist condemning us for not bashing Bush for his more
material crimes? (Although, if it helps push a revolution in Pakistan,
it'll be bad enough.)

(Not that I'm a friend to the current Pakistani gov't, but the forces in
any likely revolution don't looks so great. Plus, we'd just annex it with
extreme prejudice. Not good.)
