Damien wrote about Clyde Foster as a white male. Because of the first
name "Clyde", I assumed Foster was a male. I could not, however, make
any assumption on Foster's race without more information. My question
was intended to be exactly as it was written: "How do you know Mr Foster
is white?" No uncivility or condescension intended.

Heh. I can't please *anyone*.

Since I'm unclear how civil and non-condescending *you* were being, I
leave it open how civil and condescending I am.

Let me try to drag this into a more, I hope, fruitful vein.

Homophobia is a real problem in black communities (as in white). I don't
actually know the demographics of Dr. Laura's audience, but, not knowing
that, it seems reasonably possible that Clydefoster is black. *Assuming*
that he's white may well be worrisomely racist. It's not clear to me
exactly how Damien intended his response, and I can see interpretations
that don't cross the line at all. *Though* given that the perception of
that crossing is highly likely, given various d scenarios, I'd
personally
refrain from it. If I were black, I might feel freeer to use it, and,
for
all I know, damien is black.

If you'd written all that, I have thought your response much better than
the best version of it I see, and I probably wouldn't have *both* of you
giving me a hard time :)

Cheers,
Bijan.
