Greetings,
I just wished to address a couple of issues concerning the Atlanta
Fish Market. I hope that the server who served you was well compensated in
the gratuity. The reason I say this is because at the AFM" the servers
recieve less than half of your tip. 15% goes to the server assistants, 12 %
goes to the food runner, then a whopping 25% is taken out for taxes. If there
are drinks then 6% goes to the bar, Why is this? What is the incentive to
work in an environment that only rewards one with half of the tip? The turn
over rate is phenominal there because of these conditions. Many are content
to accept a, "that is just the way it is" mentality concerning these issues.
Then on top of it all the management cuts the hours of employees to save the
company money. I have seen employees that have had at least 20 hours skimmed.
Not to mention half the time employees are not paid for training. Oh they are
promised it, but never see it. That is the same thing as stealing. These
conditions are seen as sophmoric and played down by the management in an
immature manner. One individual complained about the skimming and was moved
to areas of the restaurant that produced no customers. Basically a demotion.
One truely feels their helplessness in such situations. I became
unbelieveably discontent with such conditions and left. There is no pride or
guilt in such a decision. Just that I quickly had enough. In conclusion,
sometimes what seems like wonderful experiences to guests are not so in
reality. I doubt any of this carries weight though since the company makes so
much money for so many different people and has such a fine reputation among
critics. Thank you for allowing the venting.
