I think it's important to make a distinction between Jews and Israelis,
and even then between differences of opinion between different Israelis.
Just as we don't necessarily approve of the actions our own government
takes and yet call ourselves Americans, there are some Israelis -- indeed,
some would say the majority! -- who do not approve of their government's
actions.

As a Jew, albeit a non-observant one, I could very easily take offense at
your implication that I am by definition a "jackbooted thug".  I do not
support Israel in any sense, yet your hasty generalization brands me as a
cowardly, murderous, arrogant bully.
