We Urgently Need To Preserve the Dreams of Che

36 years ago, humanity lost one of the most valuable and brave men on
earth, a man of principles, a man with great moral and dignity. A man who
gave his life fighting misery, exploitation, neo-colonization and in
search for a new human being.

But even though, when the criminal bullets of the CIA and the Bolivian
army cowardly killed the body of Che, the mentor of justice and dignity
for the excluded in this world, prevails. By killing Che, his assassins
could not manage to prevent further popular resistance, the battles for
social justice, for dignity and for a better world. By killing Che, the
CIA failed to destroy his example and legacy.

36 years after his death, we see the seeds of Che germinating as blossoms
in other countries of this continent. Venezuela, under the leadership of
president Hugo Chavez Frias, has become another battle front in search
for a better world.

Chavez, is implementing reforms to give the rights to the majority of
Venezuelans: Education, health care, and housing,-among others- and most
important, the right to national and human dignity. This year, Argentina,
the chosen model for neo-liberalism, revolted against its masters. Most
recently, we saw the Bolivian indigenous people fight against the evil of
capitalism and for dignity. They have sent us a strong message that when
a country unites to fight a common enemy, there is no army that can crush
down a popular resistance neither a puppet government who can survive a
united popular uprising.

With out hesitation, we can say that the dreams and the model of Che have
been materialized in Cuba. Today when humanity faces the most savage phase
of capitalism which invades the globe, Cuba remains a free zone of
neo-liberalism, a free zone of the old illness of capitalism; in short,
Cuba is one the a few independent nations in the globe. While the
superpower sends soldiers to invade countries and kill innocent people,
Cuba sends teachers, doctors, medicine, technicians and solidarity to
countries that most need help to preserve their lives. These and others
are the dreams for which Che gave his life.

But the message that we would like to share with you today is more than a
commemoration. It is an invitation to defend these new and old fronts
which have become the "the new Vietnams" that Che talked about. Cuba, an
egalitarian society, a nation in solidarity with the world is under the
target of US death machinery and we need to stand in defense of this small
island. We urgently need to preserve the dreams of Che by defending Cuba.

Today when corruption, treason and blackmail prevail over moral,
principles and dignity, Cuba, Venezuela, Argentina and Bolivia have
demonstrated that it is possible to resist the NEO-LIBERAL GLOBALIZATION
and the new APARTHEID model imposed by the NORTH by remaining united.

The genocidal invasion against Afghanistan followed by Iraq and the
constant brutal annihilation of the Palestinian people have had enormous
consequences to the sovereignty and self-determination of the nations of
the world to whom the US Empire attempts to govern under a nazi and
fascist military dictatorship, where the UNITED NATIONS has become an
irrelevant INSTANCE.

However, the resistance in the occupied Iraq has presented a different
picture to the lies waved by the CORPORATE MEDIA to the people of the
United States and abroad. The Bush clan fascists, in order to get the
financial support for his electoral campaign from the Cuban-American
mafia, point their death machinery against other countries and they,
particularly, self-appropriate the right and threat to invade Cuba, a
country whose only crime is to resist the brutal and inhumane US BLOCKADE.
Despite of this, Cuba has been able to provide universal health care,
education, housing, and dignity to its population without distinction of
class or any kind of discrimination. And to defend itself from terrorism;
the kind of terrorism that is being supported and financially sponsored by
more than ten Yankee administrations.

As a matter of fact, 5 Cuban patriots have been jailed in the U.S. because
they infiltrated the Cuban American mafia in order to prevent their
terrorist attacks against the Cuban people.

Amigos de Cuba invites you to join the millions of voices in the world and
to stand in support of Cuba, because we know that by defending that
solitary star, we defend any Latin-American country and the sovereignty
and dignity of the nations in the world.

In his last goodbye note to his children, Che Guevara stated the following:
«Above all, always be capable of feeling deeply any given injustice
committed against anyone, anywhere in the world. This is the most
beautiful quality in a revolutionary. »
